St. Matthew Luterthan Seeks Volunteers for Crisis Training

St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL is providing two opportunities in April to train volunteers to respond to a weather-related or financial-related crisis.
The first session on Saturday, April 21st is being hosted by Haven Source, a financial mentoring organization that helps individuals who are struggling with their finances by teaching basic budgeting and debt management techniques, while providing accountability and emotional support, at no cost to its clientele. Haven Source works with its non-profit partners to provide specialized services such as loan modifications, foreclosure assistance and debt consolidation. Attend the training session, become a volunteer mentor and make a difference in your community!
The second session on Saturday, April 28th is being hosted by Lutheran Church Charities and teaches their disaster response program called L.E.R.T. (Lutheran Early Response Teams). After the session, trainees will be certified to work on site with a disaster response team while complying with federal guidelines that require this training. Core training areas include: clean up & debris removal, chainsaw safety, flood & storm surge training, and the 3 phases of disaster work.
Both events are open to the public, but an RSVP is requested if you wish to attend.
