Barrington Goes to the Natives . . . Plants

Citizens for Conservation holds program on landscaping with native trees, shrubs, flowers and plants.

Catch spring fever with the Citizens for Conservation Community Education Committee, which is offering a double-header of planting programs for March.

Native Plants in the Home Landscape

Saturday, March 16; 10 a.m., Barrington Village Hall, 200 S. Hough St., Barrington

Committee members Peggy Simonsen and Meredith Tucker will provide advice, photos, and inspiration for those who would like to incorporate native plants into their home landscapes.  If you’ve come in the past, come again—there’s always new information to learn and you can start your wish list for CFC’s May 4 and 5 Native Plant Sale.

Program is free for CFC members; $10 for nonmembers.  Come at 9:30 for coffee and conversation.  RSVP to CFC at 847-382-SAVE (7283) or cfc@citizensforconservation.org.

Native Trees and Shrubs

Wednesday, March 20; 7 p.m.  Lake Barrington Village Hall, 23860 N. Old Barrington Road, Lake Barrington

For the committee’s second evening program of 2013, Meredith Tucker will show homeowners how to use native woody plants to make your landscape a haven for birds, pollinators—and people.  This is another opportunity for gardeners to add to their Plant Sale wish list.

Program is free for CFC members; $10 for nonmembers.  RSVP to CFC at 847-382-SAVE (7283) or cfc@citizensforconservation.org.
