Barrington Traffic Stop Leads to Heroin Possession Arrest

Palatine man charged with felony controlled substance possession.

Barrington police discovered a controlled substance in the vehicle of a Palatine man during a traffic stop on Feb. 9, according to police reports.

Kunal K. Vashi, 27, of 440 W. Mahogany Ct., #602, Palatine, was stopped for improper lane usage at 860 S. Northwest Highway.

During the traffic stop police discovered a controlled substance, suspected to be heroin in the vehicle, according to Assistant Police Chef Dave Dorn.  The substance tested positive for heroin in field tests, Dorn said.

Vashi was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, improper lane usage and no insurance. He was transported to Cook County bond call and given a $25,000 D-bond.
