Citizens Park Hayrides Offer Autumnal Views of Cuba Marsh
There are still some spots left on the Oct. 7 hayride.
A Barrington fall tradition will continue this weekend with hayrides around Citizens Park, a Barrington Park District program.
Reservations on the rides fill quickly and all rides are already filled for Oct. 14. However, there is still room on Oct. 7 for the 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. rides.
“Citizens Park is beautiful, especially by Cuba Marsh,” said Kim Sweeney, recreation supervisor.
The hayride fits 15 people. Sweeney said residents like to come with friends and neighbors. After the ride, participants can enjoy cookies, s’mores and hot chocolate. With this weekend’s weather, predicted to be unseasonably warm, the park will also offer cold cider.
“It’s a fairly low-cost program and it reminds people of old-fashioned times,” Sweeney said. The fee is $8 per person for in district and $10 for out-of-district.
She said the 45-minute hayride is popular with all ages and older kids seem to prefer the last hayride as the skies become dark.
Those who didn’t get a reservation in time will have another opportunity to go for a hayride on Oct. 29 at the district’s Halloween Spooktacular. The park will be offering hayrides throughout the event.
