Heinen's Fine Foods Opens for Business
The new Barrington grocery store opens this morning in the Shops at Flint Creek.
Barrington area residents now have a new place to shop for groceries. Heinen's Fine Foods will open its doors to the public this morning at 10 a.m.
The family-owned grocery store chose Barrington as its first store outside of Ohio in an announcement late last year. After months of building and planning, the store is finally ready for the public after much community anticipation.
Peggy Blanchard, Barrington’s Director of Economic and Community Development, visited a Heinen's store in 2007 and thought it would do well in the Barrington community. Twin brothers and Heinen's Fine Foods owners Tom and Jeff Heinen thought Barrington would be a good fit.
“We looked for quite a while for our first out of state venture,” Tom Heinen said. “We wanted a community that values service and quality which we believe we can deliver at competitive prices.”
According to Cleveland.com, the Heinen brothers spent upwards of $10 million creating the Barrington location. In the article, Tom Heinen said the company is in Barrington for "the long haul" and understands that it may not be profitable in the first year.
Check out the new store at 500 N. Hough Street after the ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 22 at 10 a.m.
