Hospice Foundation Raises $350,000

The Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois exceeded its fundraising goal at the annual Hospice Gala held June 25.

The Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois raised more than $350,000 at its annual Hospice Gala event on June 25. The total exceeded the organization’s goal by more than $100,000.

“Once again, we are humbled by the level of support we received from the many individuals who believe in us and our cause,” said Cindy Musikantow, Chief Executive Officer at Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois (HPNI), an independent, non-profit hospice organization based in Barrington.

Close to 400 supporters of the organization gathered at the Tall Oak estate in Barrington Hills for the event. Tall Oaks is the home of Kim Duchossois, who is a longtime HPNI supporter. She also served as this year’s Honorary Gala Chair.

“Co-chairs Ann McSorley and Mindy Hogan and their Gala Committee put the icing on the cake for HPNI special events,” Duchossois said. “Their beautiful, creative and committed work, coupled with a precipitation-free evening, a seasoned auctioneer and 400 generous, enthusiastic attendees, managed to produce one of Hospice's most successful Galas ever! Heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to volunteers, board members, staff and guests contributing toward that impressive end. What a thrill it was to experience!”

Reverse and live auctions were held at the event as the fundraising portion. Beach vacations, Cubs tickets and an evening on board a privately owned yacht were among the items sold at auction.
