Let the Music Play

Music adds energy to events.

I love music; all types of music: pop, classical, country, new age, rock & roll, alternative, opera, rap, oldies, zydeco, gospel.  You name it, I like it.    Music can invoke a range of emotions.  A song can get you on your feet or bring you to tears.  That’s why choosing the right music for your events is so important.

Nothing bothers me more than to walk into a party or an event to the sound of nothing.  Music adds energy and life to an event and helps fill the space.  Think about all of the awards programs. Music is played between when the winner is announced and they make it to the stage to accept.  How boring and awkward would it be if there was just silence?  Corporate awards programs should employ the use of walk-on/walk-off music as well to help keep their ceremony flowing with little down time.

Music is just as important as the as the food and the décor.  Sound helps complete the overall sensory experience.  You want to engage all of your guests’ senses; what they are seeing, feeling, tasting, smelling AND hearing.  Simple background music can make such a difference while many times the music is your main entertainment.

Today there are so many options for music that you don’t have to break the bank to infuse your event with great sound.  High school and college jazz and classical ensembles are a very cost effective way to add live music.  There are numerous DJs across a spectrum of price and talent levels.  (My local favorite is Bob the DJ.)  Entertainment brokers are a great source if you’re looking for a big name.  Many people are creating their own great playlists for their iPod.

So whatever your budget, I say… let the music play!
