Main Street Building Demolished

Crews worked to tear down the building at 222 E. Main Street on Nov. 14.

A vacant building needing major renovations was torn down Nov. 14 after approval by the Barrington Board of Trustees.

Indeck Development requested a Special Use for Planned Development to tear down the structure, which was granted by the village this month. According to an agenda report, the building is in need of major repairs. There have also been disturbances requiring police assistance and property maintenance violations.

Indeck Development is not planning to redevelop the site right away, the agenda report said. The company would like to landscape the area with grass and bushes, with hope that it will increase interest from future developers and retailers.
