Movie Night with Kids at the Catlow

The Catlow Theater in downtown Barrington offers a unique and inexpensive place to see a movie.

My kids love to watch movies and they especially love watching them in a movie theater.   However, when I add up what it is going to cost us to go as a family to the theater, I usually opt for renting one instead, or better yet, seeing if there is a family-friendly movie playing at the Catlow Theater in downtown Barrington.

Admission is only $5 per person!  Located at 116. W. Main Street, the Catlow is a historical theater dating back to 1927 and offers a truly unique atmosphere for viewing a movie.  The theater is beautiful and provides an experience that makes you feel better about supporting a local business.  They offer the basic amenities of a big chain theater such as popcorn and candy, but you can also order dinner from Boloney's, the sandwich shop attached to the theater, and they will deliver your food to you in theater!

This is a great time saver - not dealing with feeding hungry kids an hour before or after the movie.  Secretariat, a movie based on the triple-crown winning racehorse, is currently showing.  It is rated PG. Showtimes for most films at the Catlow are at 5:30 and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.  Visit www.thecatlow.com for more information.
