Social Media Reunites Missing Parrot With Owner

A Lake Zurich parrot went missing and was located at The Garlands of Barrington Community.

The powers of Facebook reunited a lost parrot with its owner on June 9.

A Lake Zurich pet parrot named Kasha decided to take off from its home on June 4. The parrot flew all the way to The Garlands Community in Barrington, when it stopped to rest on resident Ralph Ostrom’s balcony.

Ostrom opened his door and let Kasha into his apartment. The staff at The Garlands took good care of the bird, offering it fruit, water and even a birdcage one staff member brought from home.

After speaking with local police, veterinarians, and pet control, staff members at The Garlands were unable to locate Kasha’s owner.

“A lot of the staff here own pets, so it was really important for us to reunite the pet parrot with its owner,” Activity Director for Prairieview at The Garlands Lisa Geisler said.
