Fareed Haque, regarded as one of the finest guitar virtuosos, will perform at the Listening Room on Sunday at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park/ Dole Mansion. Haque, who played with Sting, will perform with guest flutist Zachary Weiss from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the Listening Room, located in the lower level of the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, 401 Country Club Rd., Crystal Lake. The concert, held in the Listening Room's intimate setting, showcases "Music from Brazil and Beyond." It is part of the 2nd Sunday Series at 'the Listening Room.' Haque also is scheduled to appear on May 12 - Mother's Day - for a concert of "Lullabies and Love" songs with vocalists Orna Oriana and Jill Sanderson. New Medicare database shows how hospitals across serving the Chicago area — and the rest of the nation — compare for care. Wait times at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital are double the state average.
If you go to the emergency room at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, how long will it take before you see a health-care professional? The federal government says 66 minutes on average. That's worse than both the state and national average, according to a new database causing some hospital officials nationwide to cringe. The state average wait time is 33 minutes. The Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum will welcome Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln at 2 p.m. Saturday. This appearance will mark the official opening of the traveling exhibition, Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America. The exhibition opens at noon with Mayor Rhett Taylor giving a welcome at 1:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $3. The exhibit runs through June 16. The museum will offer extended hours: From March 23-June 16, visit Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and by appointment. Group tours are also welcome.
