Former Barrington Occupational Therapist Dies In Car Crash

Bridget Prate was pronounced dead at Sherman Hospital in Elgin Tuesday evening.

The Algonquin woman who died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday has been identified as 45-year-old Bridget Prate, mother of two young children.

Prate, an occupational therapist,  was the passenger in a 2009 black Nissan four-door SUV driven by her husband Anthony.

The vehicle was traveling north on Pyott Road, when it crossed the centerline, colliding with a southbound 2008 Chevrolet SUV driven by 51-year old William Hindle, of Carol Stream, said Lake in the Hills Police Sgt. Eric Decker.

The Nissan went off the west side of Pyott Road and struck a tree and fence.

The crash occurred at 6:27 p.m. near the intersection of Pyott Road and McPhee Drive.

Bridget Prate was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin where she was pronounced dead. Anthony was treated and released from Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

It is still unclear as to why the Nissan crossed the centerline. The accident remains under investigation with the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 6 from 1-8 p.m. at the Wait-Ross Funeral Home, 201 S. Main Street, in Algonquin. Family and friends will meet at St. Margaret Mary Church, 111 S. Hubbard Street, Monday, March 7 for a funeral mass at 10 a.m.
