Any suggestions for teen athletes (food choices) in particular, what they can eat immediately after school before a practice or a game?

There is no physical necessity to drink 8 glasses of water a day: this is a health myth that was debunked several years ago. In fact, drinking too much water can lead to hyponatremia, which can be fatal. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=strange-but-true-drinking-too-much-water-can-kill I am a healthy 51 year old and, with the exception of drinking about 6 - 8 oz of water or when I exercise, I don't drink more than a cup of tea or coffee and a SoBe water every day. If kids are exercising for any period of time in hot weather, they need electrolytes, not just plain water. But a healthy person does not "need" 8 oz of water on a daily basis (especially if they do not wish to spend an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom).

The daily "recommended" amount of water is 8 glasses. That's not much. It is not a myth. It was not debunked. There are varying opinions. There are and will continue to be. The point here is and said within the blog is that "Water is Important" Thank you for sharing.
