Did you know that Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois (HPNI) has the one of the largest pediatric programs in Illinois and is the only hospice in the state to employ a Child Life Therapist?
The 19th annual Duck Race and Pool Party is this Saturday, August 4, from 4-7 p.m. at Langendorf Park. Proceeds from the event support the agency’s pediatric programs.
Celebrating 30 years of service to the community, HPNI is dedicated to its mission of making every moment count for those touched by serious illness and loss. Thanks to the generosity of the community and support of events such as the Duck Race and Pool Party, HPNI has kept its promise to the community of never turning anyone away because of inability to pay.
How does the Duck Race impact families in our community. You may not know that many families of children being cared for by HPNI have either exhausted their medical insurance or have no medical coverage at all. Last year, HPNI covered almost $1.2 million for care services provided to children.
The Duck Race and Pool Party is a great family event with fun for all ages. ”Adopt” some ducks to support HPNI and watch them race down the slide in several heats. Winners will receive great prizes from Barrington area businesses. Additionally, there will be various drawings, including one for a Kindle Fire.
For children, the excitement is not just the races but also the various children’s activities such as face painting, hair braiding, arts and crafts, a coloring contest, and carnival games. A DJ will entertain throughout the day and the pool facilities will be available to all. Don’t forget your appetite, as Sergio’s will have delicious food available for purchase.
Come out and enjoy this Barrington tradition and support HPNI Pediatric programs! For more information or to preorder ducks, go to www.hospiceduckrace.com or contact Kelly Henry at 224-770-2417.
