Every day, often more than once a day, we consume meat.
Chicken, beef, pork, turkey. We eat sandwich meats and sausage. We pick up fast food that contains meat. It just seems like the right thing to do, doesn’t it?
The way we have raised and fed our animal food over the last 50 years has changed dramatically!
Did you know:
Chemicals - Nitrates are used to cure meat and give them a healthy color.
Antibiotics - Over use of antibiotics is creating drug resistant organisms.
Feed - Cow feed often contains a diet heavy in grains (often genetically modified) and mixed up cattle parts.
Growth Hormones - Help the animal to put on quick weight for slaughter.
Heart Disease - Increased risk of heart disease, cancer & other illnesses are linked to meat consumption.
Think about eating:
Grass Fed Beef - Lower in fat and high in omega 3 fatty acids.
Organic Meats - Raised without hormones or steroids.
Purchase from local farmers - Higher quality and supportive of the small farmer.
Eat Less amount of Meat - Americans eat an average of 8 ounces of meat per day. We eat more than twice the amount of the world’s average.
Perhaps you will decide to become a Vegan? Eating no animal products and living 7 to 13 years longer than the average person.
If you only knew how the majority of super market meat gets to your table! -
