My Pink Morganite!

Here we are almost in the June season where flowers are in full bloom, foliage are bright green, our graduation students getting ready to step into a new phase of their lives and not to mention there is Father's Day and lots of bridal showers, baby announcements, and the list goes on. 

I have two things to do, set up my mailing list for card sending so I will not miss anyone's birthdays, graduation, bridal luncheons, etc. and secondly to help my clients to learn about an up and coming star, the Morganite gemstone!

 I have people asking me to introduce some other kinds of gemstones other than the well known ones like peridots, amethyst, any sapphires and so on. Voila, meet "Morganite". There is a richness and rather brilliant dazzle about Morganite. The soft colour ranges from clear pink to a light peach with pink as a dominant in most cases. Morganite belongs to the same mineral as Aquamarine, which is the pastel blue of the beryl family. It has a moh rating for hardness of 7.5, which makes it an ideal everyday wear piece of gemstone. Cleaning is also easy, just with mild dish soap and using toothbrush to scrub behind the stone.

Morganite was an exciting new discovery, one that drew the attention of the world's most important gem buyer, George Kunz of Tiffany & Co. Kunz knew that this rich pink gem was something exceptional and he bought all he could. He decided to name it in honour of his biggest customer, millionaire bank tycoon J.P. Morgan, who was an avid gem collector.

I like the colour of Morganite, it's soft pink matches brilliantly with blue, peach, yellow, lilac and rich pastels. It is almost as sweet as candy! I certainly think this is an ideal gift!
