The Barrington 220 Educational Foundation hosts Veronica Roth, author of the New York Times bestselling trilogy “Divergent” and a 2006 graduate of Barrington High School, for a hometown appearance on Thursday, October 3.
A graduate from Northwestern University’s writing program, Roth is known for her debut New York Times Best Selling novels “Divergent “ and “Insurgent” with a third and final book titled “Allegiant “to be released on October 22, 2013.
She has sold the film rights to “Divergent” and the movie is scheduled to premiere March 2014.
Roth will attend a private dinner at 5 p.m. at Francesca’s Famiglia in Barrington on Oct. 3. These special tickets are $100 and include the dinner, a souvenir autographed book, entrance to the interview later that evening, and the opportunity to meet Roth.
Following dinner, Roth will appear on-stage and talk about her career since graduating BHS. She will answer questions from her former teachers as well as from the audience. This event, supported by BMO Harris Bank, begins at 7:30 at Barrington High School, Barrington.
This is open to the public but seats are limited. Tickets are $10. A limited number of autographed books will be available for sale.

During her visit to Barrington, Roth will also meet with students from both Barrington middle schools and BHS to discuss her experiences as a student there and her professional writing career.
This program is part of Alumni Legends, a series of presentations sponsored by the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation and BHS Alumni Association, which showcase the accomplishments of notable alumni of Barrington High School.
