Book Clubs Provide Great Girl Time

Book clubs provide moms some time with their friends.

Book clubs have gained popularity in recent years, with more women joining them  to spend time with other women without their kids in tow.  I personally have been in one book club or another (depending on where we lived) for the past 12 years, and it has always been one of my favorite escapes from daily life.

Book clubs have pushed me to read books that I would normally have not read on my own and to discuss sometimes hard topics with other women in the group.  I know women in book clubs look forward to getting in bed and reading a good book at the end of a stressful day!

The most popular book club is probably Oprah's Book Club, which you can follow online, or locally, the Barrington Area Library has a book club selection each month.

The February selection is "Strength in What Remains" by  Tracy Kidder.  My book club is reading "Room" by  Emma Donoghue this month.  Often neighborhoods, organizations and schools have their own book clubs, so if you are interested in joining one, start asking around.  Let us know if you have read any good books lately!
