Fall Activities Abound in Barrington This Weekend

Enjoy Homecoming events, Goebbert's fall season opener and more this weekend.

Barrington High School Homecoming:

Friday, Sept. 23: Homecoming weekend will kickoff on Friday with the Filly Football game at 7 p.m. at the Barrington Community Stadium.

Saturday, Sept. 24: All are welcome to enjoy t at Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost for the breakfast is $5 with all proceeds benefitting the Barrington Quarterback Club.

Cheer on the Varsity Tennis Team as they host an invitational at 8 a.m. Freshman Red and White Football will kick off at 9 a.m., JV Soccer’s game will start at 10 a.m., and Varsity Soccer will kick off at 11:30 a.m.

The starts at 10:15 a.m. at the Barrington Metra station, 201 S. Spring St. Watch the floats and other particpants march down Main Street all the way to Barrington High School. This year’s theme is “Welcome to the Jungle.”

The Varsity Football Team will take on Hoffman Estates at 2 p.m. at the Barrington Community Stadium.

All are welcome to cheer on the Broncos during the weekend festivities.

Goebbert’s Farm and Garden Center’s fall activities begin:

Enjoy the infamous Animal Land, complete with more than 55 types of exotic and barnyard animals including camels, pigs, goats and even giraffes! If you are feeling adventurous, buy a ticket for the Camel Ride, Pony Ride, Haunted House or Wagon Ride.

Enjoy apple cider donuts, hot chocolate, pizza and more at the Red Barn Café and Bakery, and don’t forget to check out the All About Fall Shop before you leave. There is plenty of Halloween and fall themed merchandise on sale.

Fire Department Open House:

The free event offers a chance to climb on board a fire truck, meet and talk with firefighters and paramedics, enjoy free food and drinks and say hello the Sparky the Fire Dog.

Community Church of Barrington’s Fall Festival:

Say hello and happy birthday to the oldest church in Barrington. All are welcome at the on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 11:30 a.m. to enjoy an afternoon of free fun on the corner of Lincoln and Grove. The block party will have live music, food, games, prizes and even a “Dunk the Pastor” booth for a small fee.

Art in the Barn at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital:

each year held at the grounds of Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Browse the work of 180 juried artists. All proceeds benefit the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary. 

Kaleidescope Art School Celebrates 25 Years:

will host the 25th anniversary celebration on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will showcase the talents of the students and teachers at . The exhibit will include the summer Children’s Art Show, an Adult Art Show, and a showcase of teacher’s work and is free of charge to the public.
