Fourth of July Weekend Packed With Activities

Barrington residents can enjoy a weekend full of fun from July 1 to July 4.

If you are looking for fun and excitement over the Fourth of July weekend, you do not have to look far. Barrington is offering a wide array of events from Friday, July 1, through Monday, July 4, that are sure to please residents of all ages.

Most events will take place at the “Brat Tent” set up in the North Commuter Lot of the Metra Train station, 201 S. Spring St. Daytime admission is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $5 for kids 3 and older. Adults get in free. Admission includes unlimited access to all kids’ activities, a hot dog, chips and a bottle of water.  

Evening admission opens after 6 p.m. Adults pay $5, kids ages 14-17 pay $1, kids 13 and younger get in free.

The Barrington fireworks display and Fourth of July parade are free to all.

  • All day: Crafts, games and more, presented by Lions, Breakfast and Noon Rotary Clubs of Barrington
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Fire truck slide with a special visit from Sparky the Fire Dog, presented by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital
  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Hands-on activity with Learning Express, with a special visit from Elmo
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Trackless Train, presented by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital
  • 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Design Your Own Summer Fun Bags (while supplies last), presented by Harris Barrington

  • 1 to 5 p.m.: Slot-Car Derby, presented by the Indian Guides and Indian Princess Programs of the Algonquin Longhouse
  • 1 to 7 p.m.: Dragon Castle Obstacle Course, presented by Pepsico
  • 2 to 6 p.m.: Young Upcoming Musicians, presented by Rockstar 101 and Grassroots
  • 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.: Smokin’ Gunz, presented by Doering Landscape Company and Wells Fargo Advisors
  • 9 p.m.: Barrington fireworks display on the Barrington High School lawn. Music by The Scott Wesley Band and Andy Spitson starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by fireworks. Presented by Barrington Bank & Trust Company

 Monday, July 4

  • 7:30 a.m.: Run For the Arts. 10K run through Barrington Hills, and a 5K run/walk or 2K walk through Barrington. Proceeds benefit Barrington Cultural Commission
  • 10 a.m.: Barrington Fourth of July Parade, downtown Barrington
