Have Long Locks? Help Others!

Donating hair can help those in need

Do you need a change in your hairstyle? Do you have a lot of hair and want to make a difference?

There are plenty of ways go give back using only the hair on your head. Most people are aware of how to donate your hair, but believe it or not, often forget to do it. They get the big change, and the hair gets swept up.  Now that is a shame!

Do you know it takes at least three heads of hair to make one wig for a cancer patient? Do you know it takes a couple of months for the process of creating a mold of the head and sending back and forth to the recipient to  to create the perfect wig?  Do you know you will make an amazing difference in someone’s life just by taking the extra step?

I want to explain the simplicity involved in donating hair.  There are different organizations that need it.  Also, they all have different lengths of hair required.  You don’t have to always cut off all of your hair.  Some request as much as 12 inches and some seek as little as eight inches.  If you have color processed, or permed hair, don’t worry these are often allowed depending on the organizations guidelines (often colored hair or over bleached hair  is not recommended) .  Check individual organizations to clarify.  Review the following websites to become more informed.

These are just a few to consider.  If you decide to donate at the last minute.  Ask your stylist to place your hair in small pony tails and have them cut accordingly.  Donation sheets can be printed online and you can immediately get started in helping someone out.
