MOPS Program Provides Fun & Learning for Moms

Mothers of Preschoolers meets on Fridays at local church.

One of the hardest things for stay-at-home parents is to find some time away from their children during the day. For us parents of young children who are not yet in school all day, the mention of "childcare available" and socialization with other moms is enough to make us run for the door!

The Village Church of Barrington has a program called Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) that is designed to support women with tools for mothering and personal and spiritual growth.  MOPS is for mothers of children from age zero through kindergarten (5 or 6 years of age), not just mothers with children in preschool.

The program features speakers and activities to enhance the parenting experience, while allowing time for the moms to socialize with each other.  They also have evening activities such as "Mom's Movie Night" and "Craft Night."

During the MOPS meetings, the children are cared for in a program called MOPPETS, which is set up like a pre-school.  There is an experienced staff of teachers and care-givers who provide activities like stories, songs, crafts, games and snacks to keep the kids entertained.  The program focuses on caring for the children in a safe, loving and positive environment.

MOPS meets on Fridays at The Village Church of Barrington (1600 E. Main) from 9 to 11:15 am.  For more informaton and to register, visit www.vcbweb.org.
