New Editor Joins Barrington Patch

Angela Sykora is your new Barrington Patch editor.

Hello Barrington!

I'd like to introduce myself as the new Local Editor of the Barrington Patch. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all I can about your community.

I joined Patch in Aug. 2012 as editor of the Grayslake Patch, then I began working across our North Shore sites as a field editor. I now serve as editor of the Barrington Patch and Palatine Patch.

To tell you a little bit about my background, I'm a native east-coaster who attended Hershey High School in Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh.

I've been a news junkie since I was a kid and even landed a spot as a reporter on a local TV show in Altoona called "Action News for Kids."

My first journalism job out of college was working as a reporter for the former Lakeland Newspapers in Grayslake. I moved on to Pioneer Press/Sun-Times Media, where I worked for 10 years.

I'm a curious person by nature, an observer who enjoys telling people's stories, gathering news and sharing information. I want to know the issues that matter most to you and welcome your content suggestions.

As I make the rounds and get to know Barrington, I'd love for you to give me a heads-up on the best places to go for coffee and lunch, and if you happen to spot me working on my Patch laptop, please stop by and say hello!

Got a story idea, an opinion, a press release for me? E-mail me at angela.sykora@patch.com.

See you around town!
