Organization Taking Day of Action to Roskam’s Office

Northwest Suburbs and Lake/McHenry OFA Chapters plan rally Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Northwest Suburbs & Lake/McHenry Organizing For Action (OFA) is planning a rally starting in downtown Barrington to U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam’s office on Wednesday to demand the government avoid a shutdown.

Economic Issues Day of Action begins at noon Wednesday at Barrington Memorial Park on Route 59 with a rally then organizers will walk to Roskam’s office at 311 S. Hough St.

The public is invited to attend to support an economic action event to call on Congress to support a better bargain for the middle class and grow the economy from the middle out, according to a release. The House of Representatives has voted to shut down the Federal government unless the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, is defunded.

The purpose of this event is to demand that Congress fully fund our government with a complete budget, not a piecemeal one. As President Obama recently stated, “The most basic Constitutional duty Congress has is to pass a budget.”

Organizers plan to walk to Roskam’s Barrington office to share with him how shutting down the government will have dire consequences for our country and its citizens. He is opposed to Obamacare.

The House will come back into session on September 25, and the organization is letting lawmakers know this matters. Please join us and make your voice heard. You can make a difference, the release stated.
