Temps Could Reach 60s Today But Warmth Won't Last

The cold is expected to return for the weekend.

For the first time in four months, sections of the Chicago area will experience 60-degree temperatures on Friday, according to meteorologist Tom Skilling's Weather Center blog.

The temps will range from low- to mid-60s in the south suburbs to 61 at O'Hare with mid- to upper-40s in the Chicago lakeshore area and low 40s for the far north lakeshore, according to Skilling's blog.

The temps come at an opportune time as Thursday marked the first day of spring after a brutal winter. But the warm Friday temperatures are not expected to hold on, according to forecasters.

Accuweather.com says a February-like chill will enter the Midwest this weekend. Temperature are expected to be 15 to 25 degrees below average for Chicago, according to Accuweather.com.

Temps in the low 30s and 40s are expected for much of the Chicago suburbs this weekend and into early next week.
