TV Shows Can Bring Kids and Parents Together

Watching TV together as a family can be a fun way to spend time together.

With all of the commericals going on promoting the new season of television that is set to start, it kind of made me excited to start hanging out inside my house again.

We spend the majority of the summer outside or on our screened-in porch.  But now, I feel that fall has officially begun. I have dragged out my crock pot a couple of times and have already made a couple of batches of soup and chili. This is a sure sign that I am beginning to nest for the winter.

One of things I am looking forward to is watching some favorite family TV shows with my oldest child.  He is just beginning to get to the age where he can watch some of the same shows with my husband and me, and I have to say it's a lot of fun hanging out doing this.

Some of our favorites are Modern Family - with some censorship- but he laughs hysterically at some of the characters.  And, he likes the adventure series like Survivor and The Amazing Race.  I think I am the only person in America who has never seen American Idol, but I think he would enjoy it, so I might give it a try this season.

I am always thankful for the DVR invention - honestly I would never get a chance to watch TV if it were not for this feature!  It's a great way to end our day by putting the younger kids to bed and getting a chance to hang out with just our oldest child.

I am told that I need to enjoy this while it lasts because before I know it, he will want nothing to do with hanging out and watching TV with his parents!
