Grigsby Prairie’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

Time/Date: Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: Oak Knoll Road east of Buckley Road, Barrington Hills

Join Citizens for Conservation for a tour of Grigsby Prairie for its 25th anniversary celebration. The 42-acre tall grass prairie restoration is full of fall colors this time of year.  Participants will enjoy refreshments, displays and a one-hour tour of the prairie. RSVP 847-382-SAVE and choose a time for your tour. They take place every 15 minutes starting at 9 a.m. with the last tour at 11:15 a.m. Please park only on the north side of Oak Knoll Road.

Lake Barrington Shores Community Wide Garage Sale

Time/Date: Sept. 8-9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: Route 59 between Miller Road and Kelsey Road

Lake Barrington Shores is holding a Community Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This gated community opens to the public for this special event. Please enter on Route 59 to pick up a listing of all of the garage sales in the community.

 

Barrington Dance Academy Nutcracker Auditions

Time/Date: Sunday, Sept. 9 from 12 to 5 p.m.

Location: , 758 W. Northwest Highway

Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble will hold Nutcracker Auditions on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 12 to 5 p.m.  There are parts available for male and female dancers age 7 to adult and professional. Dancers from all area studios are invited. Call for specific time based on age and level. Nutcracker performances will be Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2 at Barrington High School. Create Peace-End Violence Prayer Service

Time/Date: Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.

Location: St, 401 E. Main Street.

Cost: Free

Create Peace-End Violence Prayer Service is a time of intention prayer about the violence that is ravaging our communities, nation and world. Service includes scripture, singing and prayer. All are invited to participate.

 

Faithful Harvest

Time/Date: Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: , 720 Dundee Avenue

Cost: Free

On Saturday, Sept. 8, Barrington area churches are coming together to raise awareness of hunger in the northwest suburbs. The event will take place at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Avenue, from 10 a.m. to noon.  St. Matthew’s will join with area churches who have gardens on their property as well as local gardeners who are sharing produce from their home gardens. Representatives from the local food pantries will be available to collect all donated produce. Visitors can also learn from area master gardeners, get composting ideas, sample fresh produce recipes, and learn about raised bed gardening. Smart Farm of Barrington will also be in attendance to share their passion for raising and sharing local produce. The community is asked to bring produce from their own garden.
