Wellness Place Holds Community Cancer Walk/Run

Join hundreds of cancer survivors, family members, friends and neighbors when Wellness Place Cancer Education and Support inspires the community with the 4th annual Wellness Place Community Cancer 1 Mile Walk & 5k Run on Sunday, May 19, at The Arboretum of South Barrington.

“A journey through cancer can make any one of us feel alone,” said Pam Reiss, executive director of Wellness Place in Palatine. Reiss herself is a cancer survivor. “At Wellness Place, it is our hope that survivors and loved ones never feel alone. This event has a magical way of illustrating that support is available and accessible, free of charge to people throughout the northwest suburbs,” she added.

This year’s event activities include a 1Mile Walk and 5K Run followed by a ceremonial balloon release celebrating survivors and providing poignant remembrance to those whose lives have been lost. Opening ceremonies begin at 9am followed by the 5K Run and 1 Mile walk. The event is family friendly and includes children’s activities, DJ, and baskets for raffle. Cost includes T-Shirt and is $30 for adults; $15 for those 16 and younger.

Proceeds generated benefit Wellness Place cancer-related counseling, education and support programs which are provided free of charge to survivors, families and caregivers.
