Barrington’s Annual Holiday Tradition

Plan your day to visit all 4 of these unique holiday events, leading up to the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. 
Candy Cane Festival – Foundry Shopping Center, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Enjoy free photos with the Santa, visit the special gingerbread houses at Ambrosia, visit the petting zoo, pick up your free antlers at G. Whiz, explore a Barrington fire truck, and visit over 15 participating retailers for special treats, activities and surprises. 
Winter Wonderland – Ice House Mall, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Visit for a magical story hour by Mrs. Claus, followed by cookies & milk. At 1:30pm, enjoy a holiday dance presentation of “The Nutcracker” by Midwest Dance Collective, under the direction of Ellen Werksman. Enter to win the Land of Sweets Display by Sweet Spot Candy. At 2:30pm be a part of Santa's Grand Welcome – Children will receive magic wands to greet Santa and the Nutcracker Dancers as they arrive by trolley to our Winter Wonderland for visits and photos at 2:30. Children can wave their magical wands as Santa and his friends depart for Ginergerbread Land and the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration. 
Gingerbread Lane – The Shops on Lageschulte - 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Gingerbread Lane comes to life with candy canes lining the street. Enjoy strolling carolers and activities in every store. Photos with gingerbread people at Norton’s USA. The Holiday Trolley arrives at 4:00 p.m. with Santa on board to visit with the children on his way to the Village Center for the annual Tree Lighting Celebration. 
Barrington Aglow – Village Center on South Cook Street – 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A holiday tradition not to be missed! Free carriage rides, strolling Madrigal Singers, hot chocolate and cookies, extended evening store hours in shops and restaurants. Santa arrives on the Barrington fire engine at 5:00 p.m. to light the Christmas tree.
