Music on the Hill Features Piano, Cello Duet

Ian and Ani bring "Spanish Fire" to Barrington.

 

The Presbyterian Church of Barrington Music on the Hill Concert Series presents the international piano and cello duo of Ian Maksin, cello, and Ani Gogava, piano, on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. Both are recognized as highly accomplished soloists, having performed with major symphony orchestras throughout Europe and America.

They are bringing together their talent and musical passion in a program entitled "Spanish Fire--Music of Spanish and Latin American Composers," with works by Pizzola, Ginestera, DeFalla and Cassado.

Ian Maksin was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and began playing the cello at the age of six. He has performed for audiences around the world as soloist, chamber musician and as principal cellist of the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. His live performances and recordings have been broadcast on radio and television around the world. 

Ani Gogova, a native of Bulgaria, has been acclaimed for her “dazzling artistic presence,” masterful “ravishing colors”, and “virtuoso technique beyond reproach.” She is a winner of numerous national and international awards. In addition, she has been the featured presenter at many high profile festivals and conferences including European Piano Teachers Association, World Piano Conference and Isidor Bajic International Piano Memorial Competition.
