If you normally take Metra to work, you might want to find alternate transportation today.

Trains along the Union Pacific Northwest line, which runs from Harvard/McHenry to Chicago, are completely stopped this morning due to "communication problems", according to metrarail.com.

Metra posted the following on its website at 7:14 a.m.:

"The Union Pacific has stopped all train operation on the Northwest Line due to communication problems.  They are attempting to correct the problem and updates will be posted as soon as trains resume operation."
