Big Sales For Norton's U.S.A. Anniversary Celebration

Sales, raffles, bingo and an outdoor showing of "E.T." will mark the event.

Four years ago, after spending six months restoring an old barn, Deborah Leydig opened Norton’s U.S.A. The store was modeled after those of her childhood and the merchandise was all to be labeled “Made in the U.S.A.”

The former barn is now a thriving business and has stayed true to Leyden’s original concept: From apparel to hardware to toys, absolutely nothing is sold in her establishment, even to the smallest parts of the whole, that isn’t American-made.

Norton’s U.S.A., 400 Lageschulte, Barrington, will celebrate its anniversary from June 14-18. It is a come-as-you-are party, and Leyden will provide all the entertainment. Daily raffles and specialty sales will take place on a daily basis, and most bargain hunters will find their favorite merchandise on sale by the end of the celebration.

“I wanted to do something different, so I thought we’d divide up the store so almost everything has been on sale by the end,” Said Leyden, “with 24 percent off because of our fourth anniversary.”

The scheduled sale days are as follows with a $50 raffle from each of the categories at the end of the corresponding day.

Leyden is throwing the shindig as a way of showing her gratitude toward her customers and displaying her understanding of their place in her business. “Sometimes you lose sight of why you’re here,” Leyden said. “This is our way of thanking the community for four years of support.”
