Heinen's Fine Foods, a grocery company based in Northeastern Ohio, has announced that it will open a new store in Barrington in the coming months. The new business will be located where used to be in The Shops at Flint Creek at 500 N. Hough St.

"I think it was just good timing," village of Barrington Marketing and Events Coordinator Anne Garrette said. "I don't think anybody pushed anybody out."

Peggy Blanchard, Barrington’s Director of Economic and Community Development, visited a Heinen's store in 2007 and thought it would do well in the Barrington community. She took it upon herself to contact the owners and let them know her thoughts. Owner Tom Heinen thought the area would be a great fit for the store and chose Barrington as it's first out of state location.

“We looked for quite a while for our first out of state venture,” company owner Tom Heinen said. “We wanted a community that values service and quality which we believe we can deliver at competitive prices.”

According to its website, Heinen's Fine Foods is a family owned grocery store complete with speciality, natural and organic foods as well as the traditional offerings of a grocery store such as a deli counter, floral department and more.

The new grocer will offer more than just food to the community. Along with the store opening, about 80 jobs will also become available.

"I’m happy to have Heinen’s in our community with the fine product offerings that will be unique to Barrington. Heinen’s will also have a positive impact on job growth with new employment opportunities available for area residents," village President Karen Darch said.

The store is anticipated to open in the summer of 2012.
