New Real Estate Agency Embraces Technology, Internet Marketing

Prudential American Heritage opened on East Main Street in December 2010.

The housing market has seen better days, but that hasn’t stopped a new real estate company from opening up shop in Barrington.

Prudential American Heritage opened the doors to the public at the end of December at its new East Main Street location.

“We wanted to be in downtown Barrington,” Managing Broker Jen Ortman said. “There aren’t any realtors that are right in town, so I saw an opportunity to get close to the train tracks and be in the walking paths, which I thought was so ideal.”

Despite the state of the housing market, the new office has been doing quite well since opening two months ago.

“Things are going great,” Ortman said. “I have to say the market has been good to us.”

The nine realtors working with Prudential American Heritage are taking a more modern approach to real estate.  The staff keeps its focus on new technology and Internet marketing.

“We’re trying to change the real estate realm” Ortman said. “If you come into our office, we have the flat screen televisions and lap tops for everyone…we leverage Trulia and Zillow and the latest technology for displaying our listings online.”

Although Prudential American Heritage is new to Barrington, they are seasoned experts in the real estate business.

“We’re an established company that has been through thick and thin. We have a lot of top agents in the Northwest suburbs,” Orman said. “Even though we’re at a new location, we’re able to leverage the things that have been in place for a long time that have made us successful.”
