Shop Barrington and Enter Holiday Sweepstakes

Merchants and the Barrington Economic Development Team were pleased with the results of last year’s Celebrate Barrington Holiday Sweepstakes, so they are doing it again this holiday season.

“We thought why not try something different and fun for the merchants and community,” said Anne Garrette, marketing and events coordinator.

The first year of the project drew the participation of 30 merchants and customers filled out a total of 1600 entry cards.

“We learned a little about our customers. We found they are predominantly from 60010, but they come from all over and even out of state,” Garrette said.

She said she also found it interesting that most of the winners chose to spend their dollars at the store where they drew the entry.

“When we drew the winners names, they were so surprised, they never win and they were so happy,” she said.

The grand prize winner in 2010 chose to spend her $250 in Barrington shopping dollars at to buy a plane ticket to go home for Christmas.

Celebrate Barrington Holiday Sweepstakes started Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 12.

Shoppers can pick up entry forms from one of the 50 participating merchants this year. Check the village website for a list of participating merchants.

The contest prizes include:

• Grand Prize: (1 Winner) - $250 in Barrington Shopping Dollars
• Second Prize: (2 Winners) - $100 in Barrington Shopping Dollars
• Third Prize: (5 Winners) - $50 in Barrington Shopping Dollars

Entries may be sent to or dropped off at the Barrington Village Hall, 200 South Hough Street, Barrington, IL 60010, or at any participating Barrington merchant.  All entries received before noon, December 12, 2011 will be entered in the "Celebrate Barrington Holiday Sweepstakes" drawing.  The drawing will be held the night of December 12, 2011.
