Support Local Merchants on Small Business Saturday

Save money and support the local economy by shopping locally on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The holiday shopping season has begun! Instead of doing all of your bargain shopping on Black Friday, many local business owners say waiting until Saturday could be more beneficial.

Saturday, Nov. 26 marks Small Business Saturday. By shopping locally, you could save some cash and help support the local economy.

“Small Business Saturday is a second year annual initiative promoted by American Express for the sole purpose of creating an awareness of the importance of shopping locally with your small business owners,” President Janet Meyer said.

The event was created last year to enhance awareness about how many jobs are created and secured when people shop at the local level.

“Certainly the taxes that our small business owners pay, the contributions that our small business owners give to our many non-profits are what make our community of the Barringtons a thriving community,” Meyer said.

There’s money to be made and money to be saved by shopping locally, as well. American Express credit card holders will receive a $25 credit on their statement by spending $25 at any independently owned local business that accepts American Express.  Many Barrington businesses are offering sales and discounts to shoppers as well. Contact merchants for additional information.
