Growing Kids in the Garden

They best way to get your kids to eat fresh healthy food may be getting them in the garden.

If you want your kids to adopt healthy eating habits the
best way may be to give them a place to plant a few vegetables!

Get them involved with planning their own plot. How about a
pizza garden (tomato, basil, peppers, oregano) or a taco garden (tomato, lettuce,
cilantro, and jalapenos peppers)?

Next, let them do the dirty work. Sow seeds in crazy shapes
and let them play with the sprinkler hose. Plant plants in spots where they
will see them every day and ask them to give you “reports” on the progress. They’ll
be excited when things start to develop!

Finally, a child may be indifferent to fresh carrots or
sugar snap peas when they are presented on the dinner plate but they’ll be
amazed and eager to eat them when they pull them out of the dirt!
