Holy Guacamole!

Make delicious Tableside Guacamole for National Guacamole Day on September 16th.

There’s nothing like the rich, creamy taste of avocadoes. They’re filling, they’re good for you, and they taste great too! So, when National Guacamole Day comes each year on September 16th I celebrate with my guacamole recipe—the kind you can have made tableside in lots of Mexican restaurants. It’s easy to make and can serve as a stand-alone dip, as a topping for tacos, nachos, and burritos, or even as a spread for sandwiches.

Guacamole has been around for centuries, having originated in the Aztec culture at least as early as the 1500’s. Literally translated, it means avocado sauce, coming from two words in Aztec dialect, “āhuacati, ” meaning avocado, and “molli,” meaning sauce. There are many versions of the dish. I like my own, best. The recipe for it follows. Give it a try and share this post on Facebook if you like it.
