TEAMDAD To Honor Military Dads

TEAMDAD announces campaign to honor military dads.

Did you know an estimated 1.8 million children of military dads are affected by the unique stresses of military life?  Approximately 593,000 active-duty service members and nearly 300,000 U.S. reservists are dads.  An estimated 150,000 military fathers are currently deployed, with deployments ranging from 30 days to 15 months according to the National Fatherhood Initiative.

Starting this weekend TEAMDAD is kicking off a campaign to Honor Military Dads and is prepared to make 5k of its popular Great Dads Coins available (at no cost) to the children of active duty military dads, to give to their dads.

There was a group of TEAMDAD volunteers at Army Day At The Races at US 66 Raceway in Joliet on Saturday, June 30th.  There were hundreds of active duty and retired military on hand to cheer on their favorite racecar driver.

The highest ranking officer in attendance was Major General Patricia McQuistion.  After she spoke Tony Schumacher the Top Fuel Pilot for the US Army racing team gave an impassioned speech about striving for excellence and commitment to service.  He promised everyone in attendance they would have “an awesome experience” and then he went on later in the day to set a track speed record of 3.763 seconds and 324.83 miles per hour.  For you non-NHRA fans that time and speed was attained in the ¼ mile.

TEAMDAD was thrilled to honor more than a dozen active duty military dads to kick off its Honor a Military Dad Campaign. For each Great Dads Coin ordered between now and September 30, 2012 TEAMDAD will also honor an active duty military dad too.  So if you know of an active duty dad or group of dads you would like honored, you can send an e-mail to militarydad@teamdad.com with your name, e-mail address, and daytime phone number.

To-date the highest ranking military officer to receive a Great Dads Coin is General Raymond T. Odierno, who is Chief of Staff for the Army.  He received his Great Dads Coin in late May at Union League Club of Chicago.
