Update: How Much Snow Did Barrington Get?

National Weather Service says Barrington observers measured 5.9 inches of snow.

Update, 11:57 a.m.

The National Weather Service updated snowfall totals at 10 a.m. with the cooperation of observers. Area totals are:

5.9 inches in Barrington

8.5 inches in Cary

6.7 inches in Wauconda

 

8:31 a.m.

National Weather Service spotters were reporting 7.2 iches of snow in South Barrington as of 6:30 a.m.

Other snowfall totals from National Weather Service spotters as of 6 a.m. were:

8 inches in Cary

7 inches in Hawthorn Woods

8 inches in Grayslake

 

A  winter weather advisory continues until noon today. A winter weather advisory For snow that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties and drivers should use caution, acocording to the National Weather Service.

Based on radar and visibility trends, portions of Cook and Lake county, Illinois may pick up another inch of accumulation, according to the WGN Chicago Weather Center blog.

Despite the snowy conditions, schools in the are all operating as usual today. The snow didn't cancel classes, but it may have slightly delayed some bus routes.
