Large Tree Topples During Storm

Public Works crews are cleaning up after a large tree fell during the June 21 storm.

Barrington Public Works crews are working hard to clean up after the June 21 storm.

High winds and heavy rain didn’t cause severe damage in Barrington, but the storm was powerful enough to take down a large tree on W. Lincoln Ave. at S. Dundee Ave.

“We had one big tree come down over on Lincoln, and we're going to have to remove another tree because of damage done to the tree,” Public Works Assistant Director Mark Werksman said.

Smaller branches and other debris fell across the village, and public works crews are working to clear everything out.

“There is a lot of debris on the street,” Werksman said. “We have our chipper out now. We’ll be out until at least Friday, if not until next week.”

Residents should bring all fallen branches and debris to the curb, and the village will come by to chip them.
