Metra Northwest Lines Halted Due to Storms

A line of fast-moving severe thunderstorms rolled through the area this morning.

The Metra Northwest line has halted some of its trains this morning due to high winds from severe weather passing through the area.

The Metra Northwest line announced it has halted inbound and outbound trains north of Barrington to Harvard and McHenry. The announcement was posted this morning at 7:51 a.m. on the Metra's website.

A fast-moving severe thunderstorm rolled through the area this morning and capable of producing winds as high as 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The worst of the storm has moved out of McHenry County. A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect through 12 p.m.
