Patch Flash: Skokie Company Fined for Selling Elephant Ivory Pool Sticks

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton knows Hazelwood Drive residents fear a serial arsonist could be targeting their cars and homes. And he can't blame them for being scared, given that the five vehicle fires set since Dec. 25 have occurred within a small section of the 16700 block of Hazelwood, he said. In two cases, the cars were inside garages attached to two-level town houses, allowing the flames to spread and in one case almost completely destroy a home.

  Palatine Police Cmdr. Mike Seebacher said 33-year-old Antonio Hernandez-Angel got into an argument with another family member over the cat making noise.

  Chicken was on the menu at Northbrook’s most recent village board meeting. After a resident asked trustees to revisit regulations on raising chickens, board members weighed in Tuesday on whether backyard fowl should be allowed—and if so, under what conditions. Ultimately, they voted 4-2 to send the matter to the communications and legislation committee for further discussion. “I think there is a movement in this country to have local food and to have sustainable food, and I think that we should at least look at it,” said trustee Todd Heller. 

A married couple has been accused of shooting heroin in a Shell station bathroom on Christmas Eve while their two children waited in the car, Darien police said. Georgina Burr, 27, of the 500 block of Don Marquis Drive in Walnut, IL, told police that the family had bought heroin on the west side of Chicago earlier in the evening, according to reports.
