Storm Blows Down Trees, Power Lines

A powerful storm blew through Barrington July 11.

A strong thunderstorm rumbled through the village of Barrington July 11, and Mother Nature certainly didn't blow through unnoticed. 

As of 9 a.m. July 11, many residents are without power. Barrington Public Works has also received several reports of fallen trees and branches. 

"There's a lot of parkway trees and branches down. There's some power lines that have been taken out and we have sporadic power outages," Public Works employee Fred Galster said. "ComEd has been notified and they are doing their best to get power restored."

Public Works is also working hard to clean up the debris that has fallen around town. 

"We've got full crews out," Galster said. "We just notified our contractor. They came in and they are helping us out with all of our tree damage."

A severe weather alert has been issued for the area until noon.
