MCHNB's first blog!

Welcome to the MCHNB blog

Hello community!  I am overjoyed to be blogging on Barrington Patch for Montessori Children's House of North Barrington. We have a really unique staff of people here at this campus and also at our campus in Claredon Hills that are incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in child development and education. Being attached to a lab school/teacher education program we continually benefit from the most up-to-date information about current educational developments and best practices. Not only are we an AMS (American Montessori Society) accrediated school but we have in the business of nurturing children for 41 years!

I happen to sit at the registration desk at MCH and have a wonderful opportunity to filter much of what we know and learn to not just our community of families but to the community beyond.  I truly hope to start some great conversations about the future of our children and the future of this global community.  Can alternative educational methods on the preschool level be the answer to some of the academic issues we see in our older students?  Can changing the way we engage preschoolers and Kindergartners create better students and better citizens of the world?  How is what we do at home help (or hinder) our child in becoming an independent learner?

I hope to talk about these types of topics but to also let you know what is going on at our lovely school.  We have fantastic programs and events here that are not just for our current families but also prospective families and the extended community.  This past year we held a food drive to support the Cuba Township food bank during Thanksgiving--We had an outpouring of support from our families and the surrounding community!  These are the kinds of projects we want to be involved in.
