Wednesday marks the 12th
anniversary of that September morning that changed the lives of millions of
Americans. Nearly 3,000 people were killed at the World Trade Center site, near
Shanksville, Pa. and the Pentagon.
As in other years, a ceremony will be held at the National September 11 Memorial which stands within the footprints of the Twin Towers.
The names of every person killed in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed in bronze near twin reflecting ponds, according to the memorial’s website. Each name will be read at the ceremony.
