505 North - holiday music is here

The Barrington Area Library has several opportunities for you to enjoy the very best holiday-themed music this December.

Mariah Carey is wailing in the retail stores, Johnny Mathis is suddenly on the radio day and night - it must be holiday time! While some of us prefer to get past Thanksgiving before we indulge, others simply can't get enough of holiday music, even when pumpkins and turkeys are still on the scene. The Barrington Area Library has many ways for you to enjoy the very best holiday music this season.

First up is multi-talented entertainer Eric Lucky. This exceptional pianist and terrific singer will perform some of his personal favorites along with the best-loved classics on Tuesday, December 11 at 2 p.m. There's no doubt he'll encourage you to sing along and get in the holiday spirit! If you have older family members or neighbors who'd enjoy an afternoon outing, this free concert right in the neighborhood is ideal. Light refreshments served. Please register and join us on December 11.

Then, on Friday, December 14 at 8 p.m., we welcome the return of the Buffalo Grove Singers Encore! Ensemble. Singing and swinging with holiday harmonies, the Encore! Ensemble will delight you with pop and traditional favorites. This group is among our most popular featured perfomers, so we suggest you register soon to avoid disappointment. Light refreshments will be served. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season with neighbors and friends.

Still not satisfied? We've got hundreds of holiday CDs for you to check out. In addition, our free music downloading service, Freegal, is so easy to use and gives you at-home access to thousands of holiday songs. (Three free downloads a week with your BALibrary card.) From instrumental to choral, country to jazz, religious to secular, Hanukkah to Christmas, our selection will make the playlist of your dreams! So keep a song in your heart (and on your iPad) this season with help from your friends at the Barrington Area Library.

Reminder: the library will be closed on Thursday, November 22, for Thanksgiving. We're thankful for all the support we receive from you, our community, throughout the year. We'll be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, so escape the mall madness and relax with us.
