505 North - LIT: it's not your grandmother's book club!

LIT is a social book club for adults from the Barrington Area Library that meets out on the town at places like The Annex.

Did you know there are dozens of book clubs in Barrington? Some are gender-specific or genre-specific. Some read the popular best selling novels, some read non-fiction in specialty subject areas. You can imagine how much librarians love to talk about books, so we were feeling left out of the action! Now the Barrington Area Library has LIT, an adult book club that meets at The Annex, Barrington's hottest new nightspot - how's that for an unexpected plot twist?

While we love our library building, we wanted to start a book group that would be fun, informal, relaxed and in a place where the food and beverages could flow freely! Upstairs at The Annex (formerly Park Avenue Wine Bar) has been a perfect spot for free-spirited, often animated conversation over plates of appetizers (we'll buy the first few). It's a great night out with friends, a chance to meet new locals and, yes, the opportunity to talk books.

Join us this month! Librarians Emily and Liz are reading The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce, and meeting on Monday, November 12, 7 PM. Register online so they know to expect you.

Can't make it this time? On Monday, December 3, we'll meet and chat about The Casual Vacancy, J.K. Rowling's foray into adult fiction after her blockbuster Harry Potter series. Register.
