505 North - Student Artists Needed at the Barrington Area Library

The Barrington Area Library Gallery is currently seeking high school student artists for its February 2012 Student Art Show.

By now, I hope you know that the Barrington Area Library has its own Gallery in the Library, featuring a well-curated selection of rotating exhibits from Barrington and Chicago-area artists. You may not be aware that every February, we love to feature works by the very best high school student artists. Do you have a young painter, illustrator, sculptor or mixed media artist in the house? Ask him or her to stop by and pick up an official application packet for our Student Art Show, or simply print out the application online. Thousands of people pass through our Gallery space every month, so we love taking this opportunity to shine the spotlight on young talent right here in our community. Need more information? Email us at arts@balibrary.org

Even if you don't have a high school age artist in the house, please make sure to visit the Gallery in the Library. We are currently wrapping up a three-part, site-specific series with the playful "all over art" of Chicago artist Ben Foch. Next up, in January, you will be delighted by the photography of "Express Yourself," featuring the work of 28 special needs individuals, working in concert with master photographer Thomas Balsamo (exhibit from January 13-29, 2012, "meet the artists" reception on Friday, January 13, from 7-9 PM). And of course, our Student Art Show takes place in February, with a special reception on Friday, February 10, 2012. For details on every Gallery in the Library exhibit, visit our Web site.
