Have You Heard About "Ride for 3 Reasons"?

Learn more about it this effort to raise $1 million dollars for Cancer, ALS, and Hospice and the events this weekend you can participate in to support "Ride for 3 Reasons".

In September, Barrington resident, Bob Lee, will embark on a two month long journey to raise funds and awareness for 3 important causes- Cancer, ALS, and Hospice.  This solo bike ride, his third, is appropriately named “Ride for 3 Reasons” and will take him from Canada to Mexico.  This will complete his route around the United States, an expedition that he began in 2001.  He hopes to raise $1 million dollars for these 3 causes with this ride and it is the community that will help him make it happen.

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds from the community are giving their time and money to help the cause.  High School students are volunteering at events and raising funds through coin drives.  Elementary students are attending events and helping spread the word about “Ride for 3 Reasons”.  Volunteers are contributing their skills and time to support this inspiring effort that shows that one person can make a difference and contribute to their community and society in a substantial way.

“”I have planned these rides as my way to give back and pay it forward- using my passions and abilities to raise awareness and provide much-needed funds for 3 very important causes”- Bob Lee

There is no doubt that each one of us has been touched in some way by Cancer, ALS, and/or the compassionate services of Hospice.  Bob Lee hopes his efforts will contribute to finding a cure for both diseases and helping Hospice in their efforts to get people talking with loved ones about their end of life wishes.  It is because these causes have such a profound effect on so many that “Ride for 3 Reasons” is a cause the whole community can get behind.

This Saturday, May 12th, many will come out to volunteer or participate in another event supporting this cause.  Kids in Action Gymnastics (KIAGA) located at 28039 W. NorthPointe Parkway in Lake Barrington (just off Pepper Road) is sponsoring an open gym.  Titled “Jump the Ride”, this event offers children the opportunity to enjoy an evening at the new KIAGA facilities while supporting the efforts of Bob Lee.  The owner of KIAGA, who has been personally touched by ALS and Cancer, is giving a significant portion of the proceeds to “Ride for 3 Reasons”.
